  1. Know what the UV index is and stay out of the sun at peak hours.

  2. Never lay out to tan.

  3. Wear a broad brimmed hat, sunglasses, and cover exposed skin whenever possible.

  4. Visit your dermatologist annually, and do your own skin checks regularly.

  5. Remember, sand, water, and snow reflect the sun.

  6. Wear broad spectrum sunscreen of at least SPF 15, and reapply at least every two hours when spending time in the sun.

  7. Toss sunscreen that’s expired or more than three years old.

  8. Lather up before getting in the car or sitting by a window.

  9. Bring sunscreen on the go for convenient reapplication.

  10. Don’t forget to protect your lips!
